Whats new...

...well nothing it would seem, I dont really know what that statement is about it just popped into my head. Anyways, I'm sat here at my computer trying to sort out my portfolio of work for a meeting I'm heving on wednesday but I really find it hard to focus on this, I suppose its cos its work I did what seems like eons ago and I have just lost enthusiasm for it. I have to admit that I am one of those annoying people who has a limited attention spand. Ask any of my mates and they'll tell you that I've been into or done pretty much everything, climbing, motorbikes, running, golfing, mountain biking...twice, bass guitar, drums, piano and classical guitar. An unending stream of things and music and films and games go through my head and out the other side. I notice that often people take this as a negative thing (I'm sure it stems from what your teachers used to say to you as a child) but, I see it as a positive personality trait.....for me I want to experience everything I possibly can while I'm alive and at the age of 30 approaching 31 fast I think how fast my life has already gone and it just makes me want to do more stuff. Before I die I wanna fly a plane, heli-board in back country, scubadive, go to Asia go to the states, live in France, build a hospital in Africa, mountain bike through south america, go to Iceland, have kids, drive a racecar...in a race, skydive, travel the world, meet as many people as possible, speak seven languages, go to Israel, meet a film star, meet a rock star, be a support act to a band I like, make God smile and open a cafe....where I can hang out with my mates. You get the picture.....I JUST LOVE LIFE and I want to experience all it has to offer, I so do not want to be sat at a desk for the next 35 years of my life to finally reach retirement and realise I can't do all those things cos my kness are knackered! Rant over I will now get on with that work I was putting off. Peace.

My longest running interest is fast cars, even as a kid of 4 or 5 i loved my 911s.

pic of the stick

Here is a pic of my stick, or board if you want to avoid the inuendo that could go with that last statement. It's a old Nigel Semmens 6'6", it is really quite light compared to a bic or a polycarb board but is really easy to ding. I've had the board about three years but I've hardly used it due to the fact that I didn't feel too stable on it at first which just put me off. I'm using it regularly now and I am catching some good waves with it and it is really manoverable when you are actually up on a wave, it's just dead easy to turn it (note the narrow tail).

I've been surfing over five years now and most of that time has been spent on my bic 6'7" which has been a great board, but in reality it just wasn't a sharp enough tool, it was great for smaller days as I'm light it could pick up almost any wave because it is wide and thick but it just doesn't offer the response I know feel I need.

**quick interuption, You will find that throughout this blog I will reference almost everthing back to cars, and this is no different.

It's like the bic is a ford mondeo and then stepping up to a Mitsubishi Evo8, the Evo is just some much more capable than the mondeo....but the Evo is by no means a Ferrari and neither is my 6'6"!!!

What grinds my gears...

So here's the frustrating thing...last weekend Jamie and my bro and I went surfing, we went to South Bay Scarborough in England, see above (I've been to Scarborough beach in Perth WA Australia and needless to say it's a lot different, see below)

anyway we had a fairly good surf (you can check out the jackrabbitt forum for a bit more of an explanation of the event)....but the thing is I've not been out surfing in a while so when I do get out it always affects me and I just want/need to go again. So monday morning I'm sat in front of my screen doing my nine to five when I decide to take a look at the surf report for the next week (check out magicseaweed for all those interested, its great) I find myself looking for my next hit and on the long range report it looks good. Myself and Steve (my work colleague) are always checking the forecasts looking for whats happening and then we inevitably start talking surf and what we did "this one time and surf camp" or some other story and so we build up even more anticipation for the weekend and throughout the week we do the same almost every other day.....but do you know what really grinds my gears?!!!!!

It's when you get a great bit of swell activity building up for the weekend, only to find that come saturday when you're not chained to the desk that the swell has disapeared or has turned to mush or its pushed on into next week when you can bet that it will be firing when you're sat back at your desk monday morning!! Grrr!!!

Spell Check!

Thanks to my good pal Jim Bowen I've managed to locate the spell check which renders the entry below virtually pointless, but it was a start I suppose.

Jim's blog is rather good and I wouldn't have done this without his blog for some form or crazy inspiration. Check it out lookbeforeyoujump

....how do i do this?

Ok so I'm creating a blog...or seen as you are reading this that really should be past-tence...so I've created a blog, what do I do now? the usual thing is to start at the beginning and explain why you are setting up this slightly mad phenomena that is a blog, well for me the answer is cos.....it's a slightly mad phenomena and i like that kind of thing.

Er..what else, well from the outset I want to make a pubolic statement about my spelling.....

I CAN"T SPELL

so if you spot any spelling mistakes I've already made my disclaimer and you've excepted my terms and conditions by reading this line...oh my terms and conditions are;

1: I promise i no way to offend the blogger by commenting on his spelling.

2: I promise that I will not believe that I am a better individual than the blogger because I can spell.

3: I promise not to laugh outloud at any mis-spelt words or wrong punctuation.

4: Finally, I will resist any form of theft from the pages here in. If I do steal any information I will leave all incorrect spelling and punctuation in the original condition it was found therefore rendering the article useless.
